Toronto Wedding Photography Cost Guide 2026: What to Expect

Wedding photography quotes in Toronto are hard to compare. One studio answers with $2,000, another with $10,000, and both are describing what they call full coverage. The number moves for reasons that are rarely spelled out on a pricing page.

What couples actually budget

Canadian couples set aside roughly $2,500 to $4,000 for photography on its own, and $3,000 to $6,000 when video is included, inside a total wedding budget of $30,000 to $42,000 (Today's Bride). Photography and video together usually account for 10 to 15 percent of the whole.

Those figures have held rather than climbed. The Knot Worldwide's 2026 Real Weddings Study, drawn from 10,474 couples married during 2025, put the average wedding at $34,000 and flat year over year, with 88 percent of couples booking a photographer (The Knot Worldwide).

A quote well under that band usually means fewer hours, one photographer, or a smaller finished gallery. A quote well above it usually means film alongside photography, a second or third shooter, or albums included rather than sold afterwards.

Why two quotes differ by thousands

Four things account for most of the spread, and none of them is talent.

Hours of coverage is the largest. A quote running from preparation through the first dances is a different job from one covering the ceremony and formal portraits.

A second photographer is the next. One camera cannot be in two rooms, so parallel moments — two people getting ready separately, guests reacting while vows are exchanged — either get a second pair of hands or go undocumented.

Finished images matter more than couples expect, and the number worth asking for is what the studio delivers rather than what it shoots. Every photographer comes home with thousands of frames.

Turnaround is the one almost nobody compares. Editing runs roughly four hours for every hour shot, so a ten-hour wedding carries about forty hours of desk work. The industry standard for a full gallery is six to eight weeks, and peak-season weddings between May and October commonly stretch to eight to twelve (Moment).

When to book

Toronto's wedding season runs May through October, and those Saturdays go first. Booking twelve to eighteen months ahead gives you the widest choice of studios; a winter or weekday date opens up availability that a September Saturday will not.
